Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about Medicare? You’re not alone. Here are answers to some of the most common questions we hear.
If you don’t see your question below, we’re happy to help.

Why is my Medicare plan being discontinued for 2027?

Several carriers, including ConnectiCare and Care Partners, are exiting parts of the Connecticut market for 2027. If your plan is affected, you’ll get a formal non-renewal notice from your carrier this fall, and you’ll need to pick a new plan during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 to December 7).

Don’t wait for the notice to figure out your options. Call your agent as soon as you hear anything, or before AEP starts if you can. Compare Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Medicare Savings Account (MSA) options based on your doctors, prescriptions, and budget.

Medicare Advantage bundles hospital, medical, and often drug coverage into one plan with a network and set copays. Medicare Supplement pairs with Original Medicare and lets you see any doctor who accepts Medicare, usually for a higher premium but fewer surprise costs.

Carriers are trimming extra benefits and tightening provider networks to manage rising costs, which is why more people are considering supplemental protection like cancer, heart attack/stroke, or hospital indemnity plans.

An MSA plan pairs a high-deductible Medicare Advantage plan with a savings account Medicare funds each year. You control the account and use it tax-free for medical expenses until you meet your deductible, after which the plan covers your care.

Not everyone needs a trust, but many people benefit from having one, along with basic medical directives, as part of a full retirement plan. Without one, families can end up in unnecessary conflict or probate delays.
